Zhang Yu arrived on December 3rd suffering from malnutrition and pneumonia.

Update: October 2011

Zhang Yu is the smartest boy here, his walk is much more stable during the month, while his runs is not as well as his walking. Now he can make the sounds of Mama”, “Baobao” and “Nainai” clearly. For him, the speech training is still the main task in the following month.

Update: September 2011

Zhang Yu, the noodle boy, at his three now, can walk well now. He has been taking his time in growing. He understands things well, smart as another little wise-man, talks in his small voice, but cries loudly! He is a spoiled one as he has been the weakest one, got more attention, but he used it to show his little temper, now we are working on to treat him “normal”cooled him down, but it is not easier for the nannies, as they can not take in the event as soon as he opened his mouth as large as he can, and make a cry as loudly as possible in front of them, they can not help starting giving up…

Update: September 2009

Zhang Yu is still the weakest one. He runs a fever about every two weeks. After Dr. Frank's treatment, his desire to eat has improved. Also, his strength is improving and he can now kick his legs one way and another and is more active.

Update: June 2009

Zhang Yu is the weakest one of all the children. He continues to run a fever, and sweats a lot. His fever is of unknown origin, and the nannies are carefully monitoring his condition and giving his medicine to control the fever, when needed. He receives the most attention, and the nannies are always holding or playing with him. He is a quiet little boy, who has a sweet smile. He is a gentle and loving little one. Currently, his weight is 5.2kg; height is 64cm; head circumference is 42cm; chest 38cm.

Update: January 2009

Zhang Yu is one of the weakest ones. His color is not good and he continues to have fever and breathing issues frequently. Dr. Frank checked him on the 7th and 22nd of February.

Update: December 2008

Zhang Yu is a baby boy born June 12, 2008 who arrived at the Center on December 3 from the Siping orphanage. He was suffering from malnutrition and pneumonia. He is undergoing treatment for both at this time.

Height: 58cm
Weight: 4.3kg
Chest: 32cm
Head: 38.5cm

His height of last month was a wrong number (70cm), it should be 88cm, and the measurement of his height of this month is 89cm; and he weights to 11.5kg this month.

Hello,
I was reading the comments posted about this beautiful little boy. I noticed that it was mentioned that he runs fevers about every two weeks. I have a son who was diagnosed with a disorder called Hyper IgD syndrome when he was 4 yrs old. One of the characteristics of this disorder is frequent fevers of unknown origin. It can be diagnosed with blood tests. If the blood shows elevated levels of IgA and IgD that is pretty much a definitive diagnosis. This is a rare disease that not many doctors are aware of. I just wanted to pass this information along to you. There are also articles on the internet that go into greater detail on this disorder, as more is known about it now that when my son was first diagnosed back in 1998.

Please
Support the Siping
Fostercare Children

Would you please help support the children in our fostercare home in Siping, China.  It costs $280 per child per month to provide the medical care, food, diapers, and staff to give these children a chance to survive long enough to be adopted.  We don't expect everyone to provide complete sponsorship to one child so we offer you three options for monthly donations.  "Option A" is $28 per month (just 92 cents a day), "Option B" is $20 per month (just 65 cents a day), "Option C" is $10 per month (just 32 cents a day), or if you are feeling really crazy, I mean generous, today; we have "Option D" so you can provide 100% of a child's support per month.  We hope one of these will allow you to help these children.  They have no one else to look to for hope.

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Your donations are tax deductable.
